Duckworth Motor Group Supports The Macmillan Coffee Morning

Duckworth Motor Group recently took part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning, a well-known annual event that raises funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. On September 27, we hosted gatherings at both our Market Rasen and Boston sites. We raised a grand total of £440.04 for the charity.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning is the charity's biggest fundraising event, which began in 1990 as a simple gathering where attendees would donate the cost of their coffee. Over the years, it has grown into a nationwide initiative, with thousands of groups participating in homes, businesses, and community spaces. The premise is simple but effective: participants enjoy coffee, cakes, and good company, while their contributions help Macmillan provide essential support to people living with cancer and their families

These events not only raise crucial funds but also create a sense of community and awareness around the challenges faced by those affected by cancer. Duckworth Motor Group’s participation underscores their commitment to giving back to the local community, aligning with Macmillan's mission to improve the lives of those dealing with cancer diagnoses.

In addition to hosting the coffee morning, Duckworth Motor Group added a fun twist to the event by organising a friendly baking competition among their staff members.

This competition encouraged creativity and a little friendly rivalry, with participants showing off their baking skills in two categories: best tasting and best-looking bakes. At the Boston Sales Manager Sarah Melland’s Victoria Sponge won the award for best tasting, earning praise for its delicious flavour and quality. Meanwhile, Service Advisor Lucy Gedney's Land Rover cake bake stood out visually, winning the prize for best-looking, thanks to her enormous effort in attention to detail and presentation.

Over at the Market Rasen site, the competition was equally spirited. Marketing Manager Chrissy Pratt took home the award for best tasting with her Lemon Drizzle slices, with a recipe that clearly impressed the judges for being moist. Lily Maltby, on the other hand, won the title for best looking bake, showcasing her talent for creating a visually stunning treat.

It was a great way to get everyone involved, making the Macmillan Coffee Morning at Duckworth Motor Group not only a charitable effort, but also a day filled with camaraderie and delicious home-made treats.
