From July 3rd to 7th, I had the greatest work experience at Duckworth Motor Group's dealership in Boston. At first, I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be an incredible and eye-opening adventure that got me excited for my future.
I'd never worked in a big company like this before, so I was a bit nervous. But, as soon as I stepped in, everyone there was super friendly and made me feel right at home. Each day, they let me visit different departments, shadowing different employees, and it was so good to see how everything worked together to keep the whole dealership running smoothly.
During my time there, I got to do some real hands-on tasks too. I answered calls at reception, helped out in the parts department, and even pitched in with creating social media content. It was great to get involved and learn how they handle things day-to-day.
My favourite parts were the days I spent with the service and sales teams. They were just so welcoming and patient with me. They let me get involved with customer service tasks, like managing the service schedule and keeping the showroom looking smart and luxurious. It made me realise that I'm really interested in customer-facing roles, which is something I'll keep in mind for my future career. Seeing how much knowledge and skill these departments had and how they made strong connections with clients to give them the best experience was truly inspiring.
I had an exciting time in the marketing department too. It was eye-opening to see the work that goes into keeping clients engaged on social media. I even got to help out with promoting Jaguar alongside Wimbledon, and they let me pitch in some of my own ideas for their social media platforms.
The best part is, I learned some exceptional life skills during my time at Duckworth. I picked up communication, teamwork, and management skills that will help me out in the future job market. But what really made it special was the people I met there. They were all so welcoming and generous with their time, and that made the whole experience unforgettable. I'll be forever grateful for this opportunity.
So, thanks to my week at Duckworth, I'm motivated to shape a future that aligns with everything I learned there. It was a week filled with awesome memories and valuable lessons that I'll carry with me forever.
